7 Ways Beer ROCKS MY FACE OFF in the Summer!!

1.  Working on the yard during the sun season is a great excuse to get outside and moisten the brow plowing one’s own refinanced plot of land.  Its these sizzlingly humid and gritty days of glorious silt digging to come that I look forward too the most – to enjoy the first crisp soul satisfying sip of cold brew after watching someone else doing all that sweaty mucky nonsense while I lay in my hammock re-reading The Hunger Games trilogy.  Nothing spells a satisfyingly smooth summer as pairing a…See More

Get In There & Do Her!

Yep, my job is pretty kickass (I would try denying it but drinking and modesty just don’t mix).  So it’s no wonder that I am asked everyday how the hell I got my job and how the hell someone else could too.  It’s the type of question that after awhile you already have set up one of those automated on-star responses, but with a little sardonic mixed in for good cynical measure.   When asked I suddenly get really serious, lean in super close and while looking straight into their eyes, I whisper…See More

Just Step Away From the Fried Dough...

It’s a new year and a new you (well, for at least the first couple days of January till your chubby bum buys that deluxe box of doughnut holes because your physical trainer made you cry a little…) – but what’s gonna be new in good old NC brew?  In 2012 there is plenty brew new to keep us all wagging our tails or scratching our heads from up and coming breweries (big & small), brand spanking new seasonals/specialties, festivals and a king of the hill beer savvy attitude we’re developing in…See More

Santa Stocking Stuff Her Real Good

What do you get the people in your life to show them you care (but not necessarily for their livers)?  Well tis the season to be jolly and a whole lot of tipsy, so give the ones you love the gift of what makes all so merry and bright, BEER!  I have already met quite a few parents (PS – AWESOME PARENTS) in the last two weeks who were searching out great craft beer and brewery gear for their college kids as stocking stuffers.  Wives and husbands too I’ve seen, searching the beer coolers,…See More

Master Debating on Tap Rotating

Rotation - the ADD of tap switching in the bar and restaurant world.  Some bars its their philosophy - only the newest, specialty, seasonal beers as they come - these are the craft centric bars.  That’s ok, its what they do, its what makes them work, they rotate ALL of their taps for the love of craft.  What gets to me sometimes though  are the bars that unwaveringly keep the usual suspects around - Yuengling, Guiness, Blue Moon, Bud Lt, New Castle, Miller, etc. - but have only one or two taps…See More

Day Tripper? I Hardly Knew Her!

Say you are stuck in one of THOSE meetings.  You know the type, right?  Where your  presence is more required of you than any ounce of your intelligence?  Eyes glazed and mind closed for business… but pondering  re-opening instead for the mysterious allure and sweet delight of daydreaming and its many follies?   Yeeeeeeeeeah, you know the one.  We’ve all been there, not even realizing we’ve taken a dreamy trip away in the first place (and then forgot still to buy a t-shirt to prove it as…See More

Take It Like You Give It.

Oh my god people love’em some free shhhtuff.  Hell, any damn stuff, doesn’t even matter half the time what it is, just love to own it.  I’m not innocent of this compulsion by any means, I am a goodwill junkie and love me some knick knacks -- but just to lose your shit over getting a free t-shirt that is too big for you and you will most likely never wear is just a bit much, right?  Since starting as a sales rep I have learned how grossly important it is to focus on branding your product.  I…See More

George Lucas Ain't Got Shit On Me.

A long time ago, in a county not so far away, there lived a man.  Unemployed, though happily married but definitely a bit thirsty – this man’s name was Sean Lilly Wilson.  You might recognize the name if you’ve been following the evolution of beer in North Carolina, but if you don’t Sean was a man who was bored and looking for a purpose.  That purpose, my kittens, was beer and the lack there of in variety and potency in our fine bible thumping state.   Sean was the founder and creative force in…See More

Dunna nanna nanna nanna, Brand Man!

I just finished reading an article that matches personality traits of beer drinkers to their choices in brew consumption.  Actually, I read a couple on the same subject and they all seem to be pretty similar.  Similar in the fact that they are all mostly bullshit.  Generically contrived and stereotyped, albeit always still amusing, bull-patooey.  Here’s the breakdown…all they did was concentrate on the main domestic brands like Bud, Bud Lt., Heineken, Blue Moon, Michelob Ultra, and Corona -…See More

Titt for Tatt

So…boobs. I won’t lie; those lovable fun bags are pretty damn fantastic. With their boundless usefulness, these pillows of power and allure have more than survived the test of time. But who, pray tell, has been wielding such a great (but certainly not so terrible) power? Everyone! Doesn’t matter if ya got ‘em or not! A booby trap is a free domain where the hand that sets its snare is of equal opportunity gender, race and carbon dating. What a little shocker, right? Sex sells! It’s a concept as…See More

Profile Information

Tell us a little about yourself.
Girl meets beer. Girl loves beer. Girl and beer have beautiful girl-beer babies together. Now that's amore...

In the Wilmington/Coastal area I am the Brand Manager for LoneRider Brewery, an award winning local brewery from Raleigh, NC! Our sexy line up of outlaws and bandits are: Shotgun Betty Hefeweizen - a German Style Hefe nicknamed Bottle of Sunshine in our hometown for its chewy yet silky honeyed body that carries the light aroma of banana clove while still finishing with the bright dry crisp of pure gold wheat (hold the fruit on this lady kiddos, she don't need it), then there is the Peacemaker Pale Ale - An American style Pale with a surprising fresh hop profile of a humble slight bitter beginnings that blooms into to a bright grapefruit center dissolving seamlessly to a clean crisp finish, and finally that lovely Sweet Josie Brown Ale - a Gold Award winner at the Great American Beer Festival for her beautiful balance of light bitterness and creamy malt finish like a smooth shade grown coffee with a little dark chocolate to play with the emotions...

Whew, I am getting excited just thinking of 'em! But what gets me even more excited is the LOCAL BREW REVOLUTION taking place in this great state of North Carolina. Its a beautiful thing comrades! So get your tasted buds turned on and keep it LOCAL and keep it FRESH!! Oh, and always keep it beer... ;)

Even when unhitched and unglued

Igniting inside my guzzling lust!

I'm glad to hear you like the articles. I'm working on getting into some big festivals and covering them in my column. As far as homebrewing goes, I've never had such an interesting and exciting hobby as brewing my own beer. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in a self-sustaining hobby and craft beer (people like you especially). This summer my goal is to make a golden light ale and an IPA. I look forward to reading more articles from you. Cheers!
